The adult moth of this species has grey-brown forewings each with some pale markings, and a submarginal arc of dark chevrons. The hindwings are dark brown, each with a large orange triangle at the base, a submarginal arc of three large orange spots, and sometimes a blue band along the costa. The wingspan is about 4 cms.
