The adult moths have dark brown forewings, each with a white transverse band across the middle, and another along the margin. The hindwings are similar but the white bands are more muted. The moths have a wingspan of about 5 cms.

The species has been found in Asia, including

  • Malaysia,
  • Moluccas,
  • Philippines,
  • Sri Lanka,

    as well as in Australia in

  • Queensland.

    Some entomologists have placed this species in CALPINAE rather than EREBINAE, and in Ophiusa rather than Dysgonia.
