Harold Maxwell-Lefroy was a professor of entomology at Imperial College London, and later moved to Pusa in India, and was made the first Imperial Entomologist to India.

His book Indian Insect Life: A Manual of the Insects of the Plains, 1909,
was published simultaneously in Calcutta and London by Thackecker Spink & Co., Calcutta and London,
although the coloured plates were drawn by artists at the Pusa Institute (Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa),
and lithographed and printed by West, Newman & Co. in London.
