Georg Semper was a German entomologist who worked in association with University of Hamburg, and various museums including
  • Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt am Main,
  • Staatliches Museum für Tierkunde, Dresden, and
  • Museum Godeffroy, Hamburg.

    He wrote several multi-volume monographs about moths brought back by his brother Carl from his travels in Asia and beyond :

  • Beitrag zur Rhopalocerenfauna von Australien,
  • Die Schmetterlinge der Philippinischen Inseln,
  • Beitrage zur Indo-Malayischen Lepidopteren-fauna, and
  • Die Nachtfalter Heterocera Reisen Archipel. Philipp.

    To illustrate his mongraphs : from Carl's specimens he made drawings which were sent to Werner & Winter to make and print engraved lithographs of them.
